Yeah, and I'm thinking this one's going seven, too. The defending champs vs. the nursing home. Who do YOU think's going to hold up in this battle of attrition?

I would not be at all surprised to see this one go 7 as well. I would love to say I think the Avs will win it. I certainly hope so (sorry, Brian). But they need to show up for every game in this series, which they haven't done in the other 2.
Whoever wants this one will end up fighting for it, I think, just like the Avs did last year. The Wings have seemed determined since the beginning of the season to win the cup, but I'm hoping for an Avs repeat. Founder: Hockaholics Anonymous

The Wings are in what is known in the business as "Now or Never" mode. Half their team becomes free agents at the end of the year; either that or they're pondering retirement. Therefore, nothing less than hoisting the Cup on Michigan Ave. will be acceptable.
The Avs won it all last year and for that reason I haven't seen the sense of urgency during the playoffs this year like I did last. However, that seems to have changed today, though I wouldn't have expected anything less at this stage in the playoffs. Talent alone can't win the Cup, just ask the Senators, Bruins, and Islanders. You've got to want it. |
